Air Hogs Vectron Wave
Jan 27th, 2012 by admin

Air Hogs, the maker of innovative toys, has taken the next level and come up with the creation of the “Air Hogs Vectron Wave”. This is the first and coolest motion-controlled device that can be a big hit this Christmas 2010 for kids and adults alike. This remarkable toy does not require a physical remote control and can be controlled by simple hand gestures.

Air Hogs Vectron Wave can be controlled by moving your hands underneath it. You can guide it around the room, bounce it, and throw it with its obstacle sensor that allows detection if it is close to the ceiling or floor. It will just float and hang around at the height set by the sensor if you will not put your hand underneath the toy. You can do more interactive play with this cool and exciting device that uses infrared to put the control in your bare hands.

Turn it on and the bottom propeller will start spinning automatically once the sensors are initialized. The Vectron Wave will let off to the ceiling and then float back down so that it can get the sense of where it is between the ceiling and the floor. After this procedure, the heights of the toy can be completely controlled by the hands.

Vectron Wave is molded from top quality Styrofoam that makes it durable enough to resist rough bumps without any harm. It also has an emergency shut-off button to stop the flight immediately so it is safe to use by kids.

The charging station of the Air Hogs Velcron Wave requires 6 AA batteries. This small and compact charging station also serves as a stopping device for the Velcron Wave. When you feel that the toy needs a safe landing, you can point the charger at the toy while pressing the small button on the right side of the charger.

Velcron Wave is for indoor use only because sunlight can interfere with infrared. So, never attempt to use it outdoor or you will send the Vector Wave on a crash course.

Air Hogs Velcron Wave is a perfect gift for kids and grown ups. Its technology is simple enough for children from 6 years and up to adult. The price is very affordable and can be availed on shops online. This innovative toy will bring a difference to the spirit of gift giving this coming Christmas season.

Ductless Split Air Conditioner Review
Jan 25th, 2012 by admin

Ductless split air conditioning units are the very best thing for some situations. Of course they can be installed in the place of most any central air unit. They also are a very good alternative to window air conditioning units. I will explore the use of these units more closely and look at how they can be used effectively.

One of the many problems encountered by the professional is when they are asked to install central air in an older home that was never designed with air conditioning as even a possibility. The walls may be very thick stone. Often they have very little or no insulation. The floor structures may be rough cut lumber. The joists spacing may be random.

Walls and ceilings are plaster and lathe. Basically everything is stacked against any type of ducted central air conditioning. Many log style homes also are not very easy to get any kind of ducted central air installed. The open ceilings and the bare log wall design does not allow for any kind of ducting. I’m sure there are other situations. These are the ones that I have come across most frequently.

If you have a home or building that falls into one of these categories you may want to investigate installing a ductless air conditioner. This type of air conditioner can be installed in almost any home or building. The small indoor unit can be attached to the wall with a few screws. Most of the units only require that a three inch hole be bored through the outside wall. In new installations the units can be placed on inside walls with some fore thought and planning. For installation in older homes or homes that are already built you will want to plan the units to be on the outside walls.

The outdoor condenser units can be placed up to one hundred feet away from the indoor units. One outdoor unit can be used for many indoor units. Up to four indoor units can be attached to the same outdoor condenser. Some very advanced electronics will control the operation of the condenser and compressor to supply the refrigerant to the indoor air handler units that are running at the time. With variable speed technology the compressor and the condenser fan will only run as fast as needed. This technology has become very efficient in the last few years. You do not have to give up any efficiency with these ductless split units.

Another advantage to these mini split air conditioners is that they can be controlled to run only in the rooms that you actually need air conditioning in. If you are not going to be in a room you can shut down the unit. The units also have timers that can be set to turn the air conditioning on or off at preset times. If you are not going to be home all day the air conditioning can be setback or turned off.

The timer will turn on the air conditioning so that you return to a cool house. Central air conditioning is very hard to zone effectively. Also with large central air conditioning systems the outdoor compressor will be running at full capacity even though only a few rooms may be calling for cooling. There are some central air conditioning systems that are do some staging and variable speed technology. These are not as efficient or as effective as the ductless split technology.

Ductless split heat pumps are another great idea to look at. For a few dollars more you can also very easily have heat from your air conditioning mini split. Then especially in the mild spring and fall weather you can have some very efficient heat with out starting up that big monster of a furnace or boiler in the basement. In southern climates the heat pump version of the ductless split system may provide enough heat year around.

Ductless split air conditioning is definitely something that can solve many problems for some homeowners. Add to that the many advantages of these units and you will find that they are worth every penny that you will invest into them. As with any project like this make sure that you screen your contractor. These units are not for do it yourself people. There are many things that need to be done correctly for these units to work properly and efficiently. A refrigeration license is also required to install these air conditioners.

By doing a little research and hiring the right person you will enjoy many years of trouble free service from your new ductless mini split system.

How to Set Up an Electric Treadmill in Your Home
Dec 31st, 2011 by admin

Treadmills are generally very simple to set up. The most difficult part is often getting them home, or into your workout area once you have them home. Start by buying a treadmill that you will be able to move without too much difficulty. Treadmills can weigh up to two hundred pounds, so plan things out ahead of time!

First, have a space for your treadmill that allows you to walk freely all around it. That space in the corner may look very inviting, but placing a treadmill too close to a wall may not be a good idea. You obviously don’t plan to fall off the running deck, but each year people just like you make that unplanned fall. If an accident does occur, it’s much better to fall into an open space than to fall against a wall and possibly back onto the treadmill!

Second, be sure the location you have chosen has an available power supply. The cord should be situated so that it will lie in an area where you do not normally walk. If you must use an extension cord, be sure to check your manual before buying the treadmill. Some manufacturers recommend not using an electric cord, or using one of a certain wire size. Drawing amps through the extension cord can put extra strain on the motor and shorten its life.

Third, keep it in the box! It is usually easy to move a treadmill around while it is still packaged up in cardboard. The cardboard will slide on the floor without causing scratches, while the treadmill itself might not be so kind. Once you have it indoors and in approximately the right location, you can remove it from the packaging.

At this point, READ THE DIRECTIONS. It’s much better to take a few minutes to do that now than it is to assume you know how things fit together and then later discover that you added a handgrip to the wrong end of the bar, or bolted something on upside down. Rest assured that the manufacturers have assembled many more treadmills than you have, and there is generally a reason that they instruct you to do things in a certain sequence.

The only actual assembly that is usually required is to fasten the console to the frame, perhaps bolt on some stabilizing bars, and add the handgrips. If the model you selected to purchase requires more detailed assembly (for example installing the belt on the running deck) then you should review the instructions carefully before buying it. You may want to ask about delivery and set up, which most in-store retailers will provide. This could save you a lot of time and effort.
